Who are behind the PFO?
All HKIS parents, students and faculty are members of the Parent Faculty Organization (PFO). Our main purpose is to build a positive community that engages all. Through all of our fundraising activities and events all funds raised go entirely back to the school, as the PFO is a 100% volunteer run organization. PFO is a registered Society in Hong Kong.

The board of PFO meets monthly to conduct PFO board business and plan events and activities around campuses year around to support SLRs of HKIS.

OUR HISTORY
On the 27th of September 1972, 6 years after Hong Kong International School was set up, the "Mothers' Club" held its first ever coffee morning in the school cafeteria. In time this small group of pioneering mothers raised a cheque for $11,000 which went toward a new intercom system for the school. In 1987, the HKIS Mothers’ Club and the HKIS PTA voted to dissolve both organizations and form a Parent and Faculty Organization - and thus the PFO was born.

Records indicate that the First World's Fair was held in 1976 and the first “HKIS Halloween Carnival" was held in 1980. Over the years these two Festivals have become the anchoring community events organized by enthusiastic parent, student and faculty volunteers. The Pumpkin Festival grows year after year. In a typical year the festival brings together about 3000 members of the community for a day of Autumn festivities: from haunted houses to themed games, Halloween cupcakes to Pumpkin patches.
